Affordability in the health reform bills

The health reform debate is rounding the corner and barreling towards the finish line-signing the bill into law. However, before we reach this momentous end, there are a few more procedural hurdles to overcome. The most daunting of them will be merging the House and Senate bills into a single piece of legislation that will be able to receive a majority vote in both chambers and to be signed into law by President Obama.

Health reform bill passes the Senate!

At 7:15 a.m. the Senate took the last vote on their version of health insurance reform legislation and passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on a strictly party line vote of 60 top 40.

Breaking News in the Senate!

This has been a remarkable day for the health reform movement. Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) announced this morning that he would support the Senate health reform bill. "Change is never easy," Nelson told reporters. "I truly believe this legislation will stand the test of time. The lives of millions Americans will be improved."

Why does your call matter?

We are getting down to the wire in the Senate health reform debate. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has been working around the clock to meet a Christmas Eve deadline of passing the bill, but he has been met with several obstacles along the way -some even more tough to maneuver than the snowstorm that hit the northeast this weekend.
