Welcome!

Welcome to Stand Up for Health Care, a new activism project of Families USA. We are very excited to be launching this website at such a critical time - 2009 presents a historic opportunity to make health care reform happen. It is the best chance in our lifetimes to make sure everyone in our country has quality, affordable health care. We must start right now to build the broad networks of individuals from every walk of life who are ready to demand that health care reform be a top priority for the new President and Congress.

Our goal with StandUpforHealthCare.org is to give you the tools to take action, learn more, and participate in our online community of activists who are fighting for health care reform.

The idea behind this project grew, in part, from the incredible response we got when we were fighting to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program last fall. Our online and offline efforts to pressure Congress to override the President's veto of children's health care solicited such a tremendous response from the field that we would be remiss to stop there. So we thought to ourselves, let's keep this going. Let's build upon the work we started last fall and strengthen the grassroots movement for health care reform—we can turn the opportunity into reality this election year and in 2009.

Health care reform will not take place without your help in pressuring political leaders to make it happen. Families USA's new web project is designed to give you the platform to get educated, take action, speak out, and stand up for health care.

Are you supporting H.R. 676, the Universal, Single-Payer Health Insurance Bill, proposed by Congressman John Connyers, and co-sponsored by over 90 others?  H.R. 676, “The United States National Health Insurance Act,” also known as “The Improved and Expanded Medicare for All Act"received the U.S. Conference of Mayors unanimous support during their recent conference in Miami, Florida?

The Task Force supports a single-payer health care system where the government pays for health care services and doctors remain private.  We will never have a goof health care system until we eliminate the for-profit insurers and bargain for lower drug coverage.  I encourage the American people to demand a single payer health care system.  A single payer health care system is the only way to deal with the rising cost of health care, guarentee coverage for everybody and not fragment the health care system.  Everyone is at risk now and the time has come to get the privates out of health care, which they have never showed compassiion for those going bankrupt or getting sick or dying becaise the could not afford health care.  Bernie F

I have been studying the health care in European nations and discovered the awesome health care in those nation. Why don’t we take the best of what Europe is doing in universal health care and tweek it to work here in America.

We do not have to reinvent the wheel when it come to health care. We simply need to be humble enought to learn from others who are doing health care successfully for all
